Tap into Your Emotions: Why EQ Could Be More Important Than IQ

Each one of us is aware that we need to be smart in order to be a success in personal as well as professional life. This leads us to aiming for a super high IQ, which again means it could well be a normal human being with a whole lot of knowledge about a particular area of expertise.

Career Trajectory

Career TrajectoryHaving a very high IQ is indeed very helpful to a truly successful career, but it may not be the most helpful thing to do. As EQ appears on the scene, it turns out to be even better for your career trajectory. Now what on earth is EQ or EI emotional quotient or emotional intelligence, well it is the ability to recognize as well as understand your own feelings as well as those of other people.

Low IQ

This person is unable to switch his behavior to accommodate someone else’s needs. If he sits on a couch at a particular place, than he would not even bother to give it a thought that others would need to sit there as well, this person evidently has low IQ.

Super Smart

Now this may not be construed as giving out hugs to be the most important Super Smartaspect of any business neither is it about being touchy-feely, but it surely is all about understanding. Think of a genius who undoubtedly shines in his professional field but comes across as socially awkward, this person may be super smart but has absolutely no idea of what a normal human being thinks and feels about things.

A Handicap

A HandicapYou would come across such people in movies and television serials more readily than in real life. When you think in business terms this behavior proves to be a handicap as the person would not be able to come up with a new product or service that can appeal to the masses, this is beyond the person’s capability. He is unable to perceive what others view as  necessary and desired too.

Final Words

The important thing to be noted is even though people were not aware of what they wanted, until the product was made available to them, they accepted it wholeheartedly. The best part is Apple as an organization displayed high IQ and EQ as well. They were able to understand people and their wants and desires, this goes on to underline the importance of EQ doing more than IQ, it could mean all the difference between a successful business and a failed one.
